Artist: VARIOUS ARTISTS
Title: SQUIDGE E.P.
Label: !KABOOGIE RECORDS
Cat. no: KBG001

A1: Prince Kong feat. Jah Balance – Rise Up
A2: Lakker – Unexpected Error
B1: 16 Hertz – 16 Tons
B2: Thatboytim – Past The End

AVAILABLE IN CITY DISCS NOW!!!!!
MORE INFO ABOUT OTHER PLACES TO GET YR MITTS ON THE EP IS COMING SOON!

!Kaboogie Records explodes onto the scene with the much-..anticipated “Squidge EP” – four tracks of bass-heavy dance-floor wreckers from Ireland’s most evil producers!

Kicking off affairs, Prince Kong is a man on a mission to blow up the dance! With releases on Middle Management and Alphabet Set, as well as being featured on both !Kaboogie label samplers, Kong is a prolific producer who’s incendiary live shows are earning him a reputation on the Irish underground party scene. A tough ragga riddim underlies this track, with MC Jah Balance calling us all to ‘Rise Up’ as the breaks kick in. Guaranteed to get the place heaving!
www.myspace.com/kongism

Lakker are composed of Dara Smith and Ian McDonnell. They have been described as “one of the best electronic acts in Ireland” by the Journal of Music in Ireland, and after listening to “Unexpected Error”, it’s clear how they earned this accolade. In their seven years writing music together, they’ve released everything from electro-..acoustic soundscape pieces to mashed-up death-..metal-sampling breakcore on labels such as Alphabet Set, Go Away, Lazybird and Risc, as well as playing alongside acts such as The Bug, Tim Exile, Cylob, Aaron Spectre and Andrew Weatherall. “Unexpected Error” features paranoia-..inducing swathes of bass combined with fast-paced beats. A brief interlude to gather breath is pure nightmare scenario evilness!
www.myspace.com/lakker

16 Hertz, aka Simon Lynch, makes his vinyl debut with the massive “16 Tons”. A beast of a track that combines half-step percussion with a huge brass riff, it’s been rinsed at many a party in the last few months and become quite the signature track! Simon is part of improvised modular synthesis group ‘Push Move Click’ and is currently living and playing live in Berlin.
www.myspace.com/16hertz

Belfast’s Thatboytim is no stranger to vinyl. He’s had a brace of releases on his own electro imprint, Takeover Records, and currently hosts the weekly “Dubbed-Up, Raved-Out” show on Dublin’s Power 99.5FM. Tim closes the EP with “Past The End”, a bass-heavy booty electro tune, featuring a haunting vocal line, telling us to “Go past the end, slip into fall, head over tail, to nothing at all”.
www.myspace.com/therealthatboytim

This twelve will hit the spot for fans of The Bug, Cardopusher, Rusko, Michael Foreshaw, Gunjack, Bruce Stallion, Kid 606…

The 2nd LP from Berlin’s Vertical67. His last album, ‘Reflect’ remains among the most popular ACPs to this day, but this one certainly tops it, feeling more like a complete album. The themes are similar, at times uplifting and psychedelic, others dark and melancholic, but his production has come on a long way. In our opinion, this LP deserves to rank with the best of 2009, and is certainly among the best Acroplane releases to date.

“Something interesting is brewing on the fringes of dubstep, and 24-year-old Rob Kemp, better known as Brackles, is right in the thick of it. The London-based DJ has been spinning garage records and wowing crowds with his insane turntable skills since he was 15 years old, but it’s his next-level production work that has truly thrust him into the limelight. Singles on Planet Mu, Applepips, Berkane Sol, and Pollen, not to mention high-profile remixes for the likes of Kid Cudi vs. Crookers, Tempa T, and MSTRKRFT, have showcased Brackles’ love for skittery, leftfield garage and his ability to make refined dancefloor tunes—you certainly won’t find him resorting to cliché bass overloads that have all the subtlety of a chainsaw to the head. Between making music, DJing regularly at places like FWD, and running the Blunted Robots label with partner-in-crime Shortstuff, Brackles isn’t exactly long on free time, but we somehow convinced him to put together this exclusive mix for XLR8R. Full of unreleased gems and a few underground classics, the results are absolutely thrilling….”
